New shows: - 3/22: Youth Group at The Paradise - 3/23: Annie at Great Scott - 4/7: Wolf Parade at The Paradise - 4/1: Giant Drag at The Paradise (opening for The Cribs and Nine Black Alps) - 4/24: John Vanderslice at Middle East Upstairs - 5/15: Coldcut at The Paradise Freeheat album comes out March 28th. Begin melting now. I just realized I hadn't written about Saturday's Broken Social Scene show yet. Wow! Wow! Wow! It was billed as "An Evening with BSS" - instead of any openers we were treated to a brilliant 2 hours and 45 minutes and 20 songs of the BSS experience. I think there were 17 people that cycled through the night including a 5 piece brass ensemble, Emily Haines and James Shaw of Metric and David Newfeld (BSS producer). There was almost dropping pants but not. There was lots of joking and smiles and witty banter. The lighting was magical and made it look like many of them were about to be abducted, as Kathryn LittleQuill captured. I have no idea how the sound guy does it, but everyone sounded fantastic. Aaron Watermarktrio has the setlist. Lover's Spit made me melt 10x over.
